emotional homecoming this morning at the sunport for one local family. retired marine corporal david early made his way to albuquerque to see his family for the first time in 5 years. but theres more to early?s story?. the young marine has brain cancer? and his mother tells us they didn?t expect him to see his 32nd birthday. crystal kobza has more on their reunion. nervous and overwelmed with emotions? david early?s family? waited anxiously for his arrival to albuquerque. the young marine is seeing his minute thumbnail 06:15 pm mother and brothers for the first time in years. ?just to have my three sons here is a miracle in itself, that we?re all together.? but making this moment even mo special is the fact that early is a brain cancer survivor. in 2005, during his second tour of duty, in iraq the corporal was getting ready to fly a helicopter when he had a seizure. ?i got evacuated on my helicopter of all places, and spent a couple of days at an air force base in northern iraq and slowly got the medical treatment i needed.? doctors found a 3 cenimeter tumor on early?s brain? today, doctors removed 90 percent of the tumor. but they say it is a progressive type of cancer. early says? he?s in good shape? considering the shape he?s in. ?i got lucky, i got treatment in san francisco at one of the best cancer and brain minute thumbnail 06:16 pm hospitals you can get.?
