2:15 PM: The Winnipeg Jets have re-signed defenseman Zach Redmond to a one-year deal. Redmond missed most of last season after suffering a life-threatening leg laceration during a team practice last February.

2:00 PM: Florida Gators football coach Will Muschamp announced Sunday that linebacker Antonio Morrison has been suspended & will miss the first two games of this season. Morrison was arrested for harassing a police dog, his second arrest in the past two months.

1:45 PM: The wall of a gym at Ursuline College in Ohio collapsed due to severe weather early Saturday morning. No one was injured, but Urusline president Sister Diana Stano believes the gym was struck by a tornado.

1:30 PM: 18-year-old Englishman Matt Fitzpatrick finished 10 over par Sunday to earn the silver medal as low amateur at the British Open. Fitzpatrick will be attending Northwestern in the fall.

1:15 PM: Phil Mickelson finished 3 under par to win the 142nd British Open on Sunday. It was Mickelson's first British Open victory & fifth career major victory.

1:00 PM: Three Middle Tennessee State football players have been suspended after their arrests on Saturday. Defensive tackle J.D. Jones was charged with domestic aggravated assault, while cornerback Rodney O'Neal and defensive tackle Marcus Robinson were charged with aiding & abetting.

12:45 PM: Florida Gators linebacker Antonio Morrison was arrested early Sunday morning for barking at & harassing a police dog at a crime scene. Morrison was arrested last month for punching a bouncer at a Gainesville bar.

12:30 PM: The throwback jersey Milwaukee Brewers manager Ron Roenicke wore for Saturday's game was misspelled as "MILWAKUEE". And another view here.

12:15 PM: The Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders announce that Alex Rodriguez will not play in today's game against the Louisville Bats.

12:00 PM: The L.A. Dodgers have activated Matt Kemp off the disabled list and optioned Scott Van Slyke to the Triple-A Albuquerque Isotopes.

7:45 PM: A New York Mets fan at Citi Field just missed getting smacked in the face by a flying bat that flew out of the hands of Anthony Recker during Saturday's game against the Phillies.

7:30 PM: Minnesota Twins owner Jim Pohlad said on Friday that he doesn't plan on firing manager Ron Gardenhire during the season: "I'm not going to put Gardy out of his misery. I don't think he's miserable. He's got a great job and we love him."

7:15 PM: About 900 people attended Friday's funeral of Jon Richardson, son of Carolina Panthers owner Jerry Richardson & former president of Bank of America Stadium. Among those attending were Roger Goodell, Jerry Jones & Robert Kraft.

7:00 PM: Ben Volin of the Boston Globe notes that New York Giants safety Will Hill became the fourth member of the 2008 Florida Gators BCS title team to be suspended for violating NFL drug policies.
