ELLE Reviews The Heat | ELLE UK

Sandra Bullock and Melissa McCarthy show the guys how it?s done in this comedy from the director of Bridesmaids.

Bullock is Ashburn, an uptight FBI agent on the trail of a drug dealer in Boston. Mullins (McCarthy) is on a one-woman mission to clean up the mean streets of Boston.

Forced to pair up, they fight like cat and dog until a bust-up with some patronising, sexist cops. Then it?s these two against the world ? watch out world!

It?s great fun watching these comically gifted actresses stick it to the man in no uncertain terms.

McCarthy is hilarious as tough, mouthy, Mullins who can floor a suspect with one choice insult. Meanwhile Bullock gamely sports a terrible suit and an awkward gait as the workaholic finally finding a friend.

With its paper-thin plot, this isn?t quite up there with Bridesmaids, but it?s still a very funny, and refreshingly female, buddy movie.

Out Wednesday 31st July
