American Legion Prepares For Memorial Day Parade

POSTED: 5:29 pm MDT May 25, 2012UPDATED: 6:49 pm MDT May 25, 2012On Monday Main Street will host the 3rd Annual American Legion Memorial Day Parade in Bozeman.Veterans from wars dating back to World War II will march down Main Street."Our main goal this year was to reach out to all the veterans in our valley and community and make sure that they can participate in the parade," said Len Albright, the District 7 Commander of the American Legion.The parade will be kicked off with a fly-over by two F-15 fighter jets.Organizers say it's important for people to honor those that have fought for our country."These are the folks that fought for all of our freedoms and the way of life in our country and without them we couldn't have done it and just showing them respect and honor," Albright said.The parade begins at 9:30 a.m. on 7th and Main Street and will go all the way down Main to Wallace. Veterans who want to participate should meet at the Bozeman High School parking lot on Main at 8:45 or call 580-2152.Afterward, the community is invited to an all-veterans memorial service at 11 a.m. at Sunset Hills Cemetery.
