Comedian Roseanne Barr announced Thursday on Twitter that she was running for the Green Party nomination for president of the United States.

?I am running for Green Party nominee for POTUS. I am an official candidate. I am4 the Greening of America&the world. Green=peace/justice,? she wrote on Twitter.

It appeared that Barr was hoping to utilize the language and themes recently adopted by the Occupy Wall Street protests.

?The Democrats and Republicans have proven that they are servants ? bought and paid for by the 1% ? who are not doing what?s in the best interest of the American people,? Barr said in announcing that she had filed paperwork for the nomination, according to the AP.

The Green Party?s nominee will be selected at the party?s convention in Baltimore in July.

This may be part of a joke: a 2010 post on Barr?s website said that she was running for ?President of the US/Prime Minister of Israel.?

Barr stared in the sitcom ?Roseanne? from 1988 to 1997, picking up an Emmy Award and a Golden Globe Award for her performances.
